“Good evening, everyone. I’m Sandra K. Keely, Founder of 3 Daughters and 1000 Sons. Thank you for joining us as we honor National Second Chance Month and continue the work of restoring opportunity in our community.

On April 29, 2024, we held a town hall to make sure people understand their rights — because thousands in Missouri are still eligible for expungement and don’t know it. Our mission is simple: no one should be locked out of a second chance because of cost, confusion, or lack of support.

I want to thank our partners — UMKC, Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, St. Louis Community College, the Public Library system, the Urban League, our volunteer attorneys, and everyone who stands with us.

Tonight, there is one major update you must know:
Effective January 1, 2025, Missouri will impose lifetime limits on expungements — 2 felonies and 3 misdemeanors.
Dismissed and not-guilty cases do not count toward this limit.

This means: do not wait. If you are eligible, begin the process now, while more options are available.

We are here to help you through every step — because second chances shouldn’t depend on money or privilege, but on justice.
